Children in our Half-Day Toddler program are encouraged to learn, play, and work freely. At the beginning of the year, the main focus of our teachers is to help students establish a feeling of trust. An important first step in this process is the faculty home visit, when our Half-Day Toddler teachers personally visit families’ homes to meet students in the environment in which they’re most comfortable. The bond formed during this visit creates a natural stepping stone into the classroom.
As the year progresses, Half-Day Toddler students enjoy classroom routines, which are orderly and simple to support Toddlers’ strong need for order and predictability. The classroom curriculum is organized around four main areas — language development, practical life, sensorial, and art. Through ongoing observations, the teachers introduce new learning materials into the classroom to meet their students ever-changing developmental needs. All of these materials are designed to introduce and teach a specific skill or task necessary for healthy childhood development.
